DODA: In a swift response to the devastating floods that have crippled Jammu region, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps has swung into action to restore connectivity in Doda.
Engineer troops have started laying a Bailey Bridge over Jangalwar Nallah after floods washed away stretches of NH-244 near Thatri, cutting off access to Doda and Kishtwar.
Despite rough weather and treacherous terrain, mobilisation of bridging stores is underway, and construction is progressing in full swing.
Army troops are working in close coordination with the civil administration, while Jammu and Kashmir Police are managing traffic control to facilitate the restoration effort.
The floods have submerged vast areas, sweeping away homes, fields and bridges. With NH-244 — the lifeline of the region — snapped, the Bailey Bridge is expected to provide partial connectivity and relief to stranded villagers until full restoration of the highway.
“Area protection is being ensured by White Knight Corps troops so that work continues without interruption,” an Army official said, adding that restoring mobility remains their top priority.
