SHIMLA: State Congress President and Mandi Lok Sabha MP Pratibha Singh has sought a probe into the collapse of the bridge of the Shimla-Kalka Fourlane Project near Solan as the double engine State and Central governments have failed to check the "poor quality of the projects in Himachal Pradesh.
Dozens of commuters had a narrow escape on August 12 on the highway when the portion of the bridge near Solan suddenly collapsed. The traffic was diverted to other two lanes after the collapse.
Expressing her concern over the collapse of the under-construction Kalka Shimla four-lane road and the bridge near Solan Pratibha Singh has raised questioning over poor quality and poor monitoring of four-lane Highways in the state.
She has demanded the government should put in place mechanism to get the quality of the construction of the highways checked.
Pratibha Singh has also demanded the government to restore the roads which were closed due to landslides due to heavy rains in the state.
The link roads are in poor condition which have added to the woes of the apple farmers midst the apple season.
Pratibha Singh has expressed grief over the painful death of two women, Nani and her daughter due to the collapse of a house due to heavy rain in Ani.
Pratibha Singh has demanded from the state government to seek central help from the central government to compensate for the loss due to heavy rains in the state.
She has also advised the government to call the central team here to assess the loss.
She has said that the State Government should assess the loss of crops and other lives and property in the State due to heavy rains and send a detailed report to the Central Government and demand financial help.
