MANDI: IIT Mandi celebrated its 12th Convocation, marking a significant achievement by awarding degrees to 636 students, including 463 men and 173 women.
This year’s convocation witnessed an increase in female graduates, with their representation rising from 23.36% in 2023 to 27.20%, underlining the institute’s focus on gender diversity.
The degrees awarded included 53 Ph.D.s, 102 M.Tech., 119 M.Sc., 271 B.Tech., and 20 B.Tech. (Honors), among others.
The ceremony highlighted academic excellence with Mr. Shashwat Gupta**, a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, winning the President of India Gold Medal, and Ms. Jain Hiya Sudhir (Bio-Engineering) bagging the Director's Gold Medal. Devanshu Sajwan (M.Sc. Chemistry) received the Institute’s Gold Medal.
Chief Guest Mr. Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, congratulated the graduates, saying, IIT Mandi has carved a niche in professional education. These graduates will carry the legacy of IIT and contribute to a 'Viksit Bharat'.”
Guest of Honor Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, emphasized, “This marks the beginning of exciting new journeys for the graduates. Innovation, integrity, and inclusivity will guide their success.”
Adding to the message, Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon (Retd.) noted the inauguration of the Centre for Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (C3DAR), saying, “We aim to foster research in climate change adaptation and disaster resilience.”
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, said, “This milestone reflects the hard work of our students. Our focus on sustainability, cutting-edge research, and leadership development continues to drive us forward.”
