Dehradun: Following clashes over illegal encroachments in the Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, authorities have swiftly responded by imposing a curfew and shutting down markets and schools.
The incident, which escalated in the past five days since notices were issued to remove the encroachments, prompted urgent action from the administration. Chief Minister Dhami, in a meeting with top officials, directed stringent measures against troublemakers and emphasized maintaining law and order.
He also urged locals to remain calm while ordering tough action against those responsible for the unrest. The situation worsened as protesters attacked police following the demolition of unauthorized mosques and madrasas.
In response, emergency measures were taken, including a curfew and orders to use force if necessary. District authorities informed the Chief Minister of the curfew imposition and authorized the use of force to restore order in the troubled Banbhoolpura area.
