SHIMLA: In honor of the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, who passed away on December 26, 2024, the Himachal Pradesh Government has announced two days of holiday and seven days of state mourning.
The mourning will be observed from December 26 to January 1, 2025, with the national flag to be flown at half-mast throughout the state during this period.
Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan announced that Shimla Winter Carnival has been adjourned till January 1.
To pay tribute to the departed leader, all government offices, including boards, corporations, and educational institutions, will remain closed on December 27 and 28, 2024.
These two days will be paid holidays for daily-wage employees of state government establishments.
Furthermore, there will be no official entertainment during the mourning period, and a state funeral will be accorded to Dr. Manmohan Singh.
