SHIMLA: IN preparation for the implementation of three new criminal laws in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena chaired a crucial meeting today to ensure their execution.

Scheduled to come into force on July 1, 2024, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatya Sakshya Adhiniyam aim to bolster the state's legal framework.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Saxena emphasized the need for comprehensive training across various departments, including police, judiciary, forensic science, and prison services.

With a focus on leveraging digital technology, officers will undergo rigorous training to navigate the intricacies of the new laws.

Key stakeholders, including Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Chand Sharma, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, and Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services S.R. Ojha, underscored the importance of updating existing systems to align with the provisions of the legislation.

This includes enhancing the crime and criminal network tracking system to ensure effective enforcement.

Secretary of Law Sharad Kumar Lagwal and Director of Prosecution Mohinder Chauhan were among the senior officials present at the event, signaling a unified effort towards successful implementation.
