IGMC’s super-speciality wing, which will have 200 beds, has been running behind schedule due to the lackadaisical approach of the various contractors engaged in project. AIIMS Bilaspur’s foundation stone was laid in in 2017 and the work on IGMC wing was also started in 2017 during the tenure of the former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, who had laid the foundation stone in his bid to provide tertiary care facility to the people of the region.
IGMC super speciality wing will over 10 different super specialities including cardiology, Cardio Thoracic endocrinology, urology, nephrology, gastroenterology and paediatrics providing tertiary care to the patients.
Expressing his concern over the delay, Aditya Negi visited the IGMC’s newly constructed super-specialty wing and reviewed the undergoing works. The contractor has installed lab equipment worth Rs 18 crore and yet to install others, he found.
Accompanied by Additional District Magistrate Law and Order Rahul Chauhan, Medical Superintendent IGMC Dr Janak Raj, Executive Engineer Sudhir Gupta and other officers, Negi said that machinery worth 18 crore had been made available in the super specialty block and he directed the department to make other machinery available immediately.
Negi directed the officers of Public Works Department to widen the approach road to make the movement of public hassle free. HPSEBL has been directed to install transformers while SJPNL has been asked to complete the supply of water to the IGMC new complex so that hospital is opened for the public at the earliest, Negi said.
Negi also reviewed progress of other works and asked the line departments to speed up the completion of all works to open the services to the public at the earliest.
