SHIMLA: In view of the heightened concerns over security following recent political turbulence, the Sukhu government has set Security Review Board for the H.P. Vidhan Sabha in Shimla and Tapovan.
This followed after a meeting convened by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Patania and Director General of Police, Sanjay Kundu, held on March 1, 2024.
During the meeting, it was decided to constitute a Board of Police Officers (BoO) to oversee security arrangements in the Vidhan Sabha in Shimla and Tapovan in Kangra District.
The Board of Police Officers will comprise senior officials including Santosh Kumar Patiyal, Inspector General (IG), Shalini Agnihotri , SP Kangra, Sanjeev Gandhi, SP Shimla Bhupindar Negi, SP CID as members of the board.
These officers will be tasked with reviewing and enhancing security measures to ensure the safety of the Vidhan Sabha premises in Shimla and in Tapovan near Dharamshala.
The decision to establish the Security Review Board stems from concerns raised by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, particularly in light of recent events that led to political upheaval during the previous Rajya Sabha elections.
Meanwhile the government has also created a security covet around CPS Mohan Lal Brakta and newly appointed Chairman of finance commission Nand Lal, both had escorted PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh during his conference in Vidhan Sabha soon after six rebel Congress MLAs crossvoted against Singhvi in Rajya Sabha elections.
Both are loyalists of the late Virbhadra Singh as they represent Rampur and Rohru constituencies in erstwhile Rampur Bushahr state whose present scion is his son Vikramaditya Singh.
PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh was conspicuous in the Cabinet meeting today that also has added speculations about his unhappy stance against the CM.
