HP CM Sukhu and Jairam Thakur in Vidhan Sabha

SHIMLA: During the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha session today, the Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu engaged in a lively debate over the state’s current affairs mainly financial crisis and Natural Disasters and closing down of Educational institutions.

But there was no agreement or strategy on how to bail Himachal out from debt burden and on how to mitigate disasters in the state.

Jairam Thakur, representing the BJP, criticized the ruling government for its alleged mishandling of the state's economy.

He expressed concerns over the rising debt and questioned the government's transparency in executing various development projects in view of the financial crunch.

Thakur accused the government of prioritizing unnecessary expenditures over crucial public welfare schemes and highlighted the growing discontent among citizens due to these financial decisions.

In response, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu defended his administration's approach, emphasizing the long-term benefits of the ongoing projects.

Sukhu argued that the investments being made are essential for the state's sustainable development. He highlighted the government's commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that despite the financial challenges, his government has managed to keep key welfare schemes operational and is focused on ensuring that the state's resources are used efficiently for the betterment of all citizens.

The debate showcased the stark differences in economic outlook  between the ruling party and the opposition, with both leaders standing firm on their positions.

The session further delved into discussions about recent natural disasters, with Sukhu assuring the house of the government's efforts to improve disaster management and provide timely relief to affected areas.
