Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of seven lives in a road accident near Durbuk most of them school  children and women. 

The incident took place when a school bus carrying 27 passengers lost control and plunged into a 200-meter deep gorge. Among the injured were three children and 17 women.

The Indian Army was quick to respond, with troops in the area rushing to the accident site to carry out the rescue operation.

They managed to evacuate all the victims, with several being airlifted to the Military Hospital in Leh using Advanced Light and Cheetal helicopters. Unfortunately, one of the injured succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital.

Ladakh's Lt. Governor, Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a swift recovery for those injured.

Mishra said the administration would provide all assistance to the victims and their families.
