NEW DELHI/SHIMLA: Amid the raging controversy over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, the United Doctors Front has written to Prime Minister  Narendra Modi seeking the dissolution of both the National Testing Agency and the National Medical Commission, accusing them of institutional failure, corruption, and destroying the credibility of medical education.

UDF Chairperson Dr. Lakshya Mittal alleged that the “seeds” of the 2026 paper leak were hidden in the NEET 2024 scam itself and claimed that authorities failed to act despite massive irregularities surfacing two years ago.

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Dr. Mittal alleged that officials of the Health Ministry and NTA protected the culprits in the 2024 case and failed to cooperate with investigations.

He claimed delays in the arrest and chargesheet against the main accused, Sanjeev Mukhiya, allowed the nexus to survive.

Calling the NTA structure “deeply compromised,” UDF questioned why crucial national examinations were being conducted through an NGO model and private agencies. “This system has destroyed the credibility of education,” the letter stated.

The organisation demanded immediate dissolution of the NTA, arrest of responsible officials, and an independent probe into the alleged paper leak nexus.

UDF also sought action against the NMC over alleged inspection scams in medical colleges, inhuman duty hours for students, and “continued silence” on exploitation within medical institutions.

“Lakhs of students are suffering because of NTA’s negligence, while NMC remains silent on exploitation in medical colleges. This reflects the unfortunate state of medical education in India,” Dr. Mittal said.

The alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal deepened further on  Tuesday after the Central Bureau of Investigation formally lodged an FIR in the case, triggering fresh outrage among lakhs of medical aspirants across the country.

Amid mounting pressure, the United Doctors Front has urged the Director General of the National Testing Agency to announce the next examination date within 10 days to end uncertainty among students.

He alleged that repeated paper leak controversies, delayed investigations, and lack of accountability have shattered the faith of honest students in the country’s medical admission system.

RESPONSE:

The alleged irregularities in the examination process of NEET-UG 2026 is a “complete failure of the system of governance,” .  The government has delegated functions based on the trust of the people to private players.

It is not an arduous or uphill task to conduct such an examination, but the faith and trust of innocent students in the system must be responded to through transparency, and by persons of impeccable character and integrity.

I put it by saying — saints who had a past, and not by the sinners.”

The  right time for judicial intervention even in the conduct of such examinations as “the law is king of kings.”
