DHARAMSHALA: In a protest outside the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Leader of the BJP MLAS led by Opposition Jai Ram Thakur accused the Sukhu government of failing to deliver on its election promise of providing 5 lakh jobs.
Thakur called out the government for "deceiving" unemployed youth and alleged that their so-called job guarantees were nothing but empty rhetoric.
"The Congress came to power on tall promises, but in two years, they’ve betrayed the youth of Himachal Pradesh," said Thakur while addressing the media amidst chants of slogans against the government.
He alleged that the Congress-led government has done more harm than good, claiming that over 10,000 employees were fired, and 1.5 lakh vacant posts were abolished with a single notification.
"Instead of creating opportunities, this government is dismantling them. First, they sacked thousands, then they abolished posts outright.
And now, they’re running schools and institutions with guest teachers instead of offering permanent employment. This is nothing short of a betrayal!" Thakur said, slamming the government’s decision to rely on temporary recruitment measures.
Thakur also accused the Congress of resorting to fraudulent claims. "Out of 8.5 lakh applications received for jobs, nothing significant has come through".
"They boast about giving ₹1,500 to women, but even that is a half-baked attempt, adding crumbs to existing social security pensions. Mothers and sisters across the state see through this sham," he said.
The BJP Legislature Party has vowed to continue its fight both inside and outside the Vidhan Sabha, ensuring the voices of unemployed youth are heard.
"We’ll not stay silent. The Congress government’s guarantees are being exposed, one broken promise at a time. The youth of Himachal Pradesh will never forgive this betrayal," Thakur declared.
