Shimla: Apple transportation and tourism in Shimla apple belt are set to get a major boost with the Centre sanctioning ₹200 crore for the Chaila–Neripul–Yashwant Nagar–Ochhghat road, now being widely referred to Here’s a fresh rewrite with a new angle led by the Chief Minister, keeping it crisp and newsy, and not centring Kashyap at the start:
Chief Minister held detailed discussions with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today, raising critical issues related to road construction, tunnels and restoration of damaged stretches across the hill state.
A major outcome of the meeting was the in-principle approval of ₹200 crore for the Chaila–Neripul–Yashwant Nagar–Ochhghat road under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The long-pending project has come as a big relief for the state, particularly for apple growers, as the road is seen as a vital horticulture corridor connecting key apple-producing regions.
The meeting also saw meaningful deliberations on the progress of the Shimla–Mataur National Highway, proposed tunnel projects, and the urgent need to strengthen roads damaged due to harsh weather conditions in recent years.
Emphasis was laid on improving all-weather connectivity in difficult terrain to support tourism, agriculture and disaster management.
The Centre assured positive cooperation in expediting approvals and execution, a move expected to significantly improve road connectivity across Himachal Pradesh.
The state government, in turn, reaffirmed its commitment to ensure timely completion of formalities and smooth implementation of projects on the ground.
