On the 8 km way from Airport to Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Imphal, Prime Minister was greeted by the cheerful crowds who formed the Humanwall. He interacted with folk artistes and drum beaters and beat the traditional drums with them. He interacted with Olympian Gold medalist Mira Bai Chanu and other sportspersons.
Addressing the public meeting in Manipur, Prime Minister said we had promised HIRA( Highways, Internet, Railways, Airways) for Manipur and Northeast and we are delivering it. Earlier, those who had ruled in India and in Manipur for years encouraged situation that caused blockades which harmed local economy.
Now the tourists and locals are having moments like “go to hills, go to villages”. This government focuses on celebrating culture of Manipur and strengthening local economy. From the principle of “don’t look east", which dominated the corridors of power for decades in Delhi, present NDA government is driven by the mantra of “act east”, he said.
Modi said top five Union ministers in NDA hail from the Northeast, seeking a greater role for the people of northeast. He inaugurated 13 projects and laid the foundation store of nine projects. The Barak steel bridge built over the Barak river will provide an all-weather connectivity to Manipur. Over 2000 mobile towers will improve connectivity in northeast, he said.
He also inaugurated in Tripura new integrated terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram airport and launched the Mukhya mantri Tripura gram samridhi yojna, 100 project mission of Vidya Jyothi schools.
Talking about the speed of development of double engine government, Modi said Imphal command centre will provide security to the city and locals. There was six percent people who had pipeline water earlier, today 60 per cent people have got piped water and cent percent people will get the piped water under Jal Jivan mission soon, he said and patted back of N Biren Singh, Chief Minister.
He said six lakh kisans got crores through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, 6 lakh got free ration under PM kalayan yojna, 80,000 houses are ready under PM Awas Yojna and 4.5 lakh got treatment under Ayushman Bharat, 1.5 lakh people got free gas connection, 1.30 free electricity connections, 30,000 houses got toilets, he said highlighting the power of their single vote.
He said the railway line would usher into the new development making Manipur as the gateway for exports to the Southeast Asia. India has achieved record of Rs 3 billion exports record, he said.
He said the daughters of Manipur, who rose in boxing, archery, weight lifting and other sports are inspiring the youth of India. The modern Sports University in Manipur will boost sports and motivate youth in Northeast, Modi said.
Prime Minister said the national palm oil mission of Rs 11,000 crore will benefit the farmers in the North East as new mills will come up in the region as the railway line will link it to the main ports.
Prime Minister said people of Manipur have recognized “certain people who have been trying to disturb Manipur”. NDA government is working on the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, which is important for the political stability of Manipur. Only BJP’s double engine government can ensure that, he said.
