Shouting slogans, the hundreds of Yimkhiung tribal people including women mostly in "red fatigues" staged protest in the Shamator sub-division demanding creation of a separate district. They upped their protest against the Neiphiu Rio’s BJP government ahead of Prime Minister Narender Modi’s visit to Tripura and Nagaland tomorrow.
Naga leader Mukamchem said it was the demand of Yimkhiung tribe. The government has assured them that they would create Shamator as a new district and fulfill it commitment. But the government has not fulfilled it and they were forced to march to the sub-divisional headquarters today to lodge their protest, the tribals said.
